Monitoring the evolving Ebola outbreak
A statement from the ATBC 2027 Organizing Committee on the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
We would like to reassure all participants that the health and safety of our attendees remain a top priority for the ATBC 2027 Organizing Committee. We are closely monitoring the current Ebola (Bundibugyo virus disease) outbreak reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), as well as any potential regional implications.
The Republic of Gabon does not share a land border with the DRC, and the World Health Organization (WHO) currently assesses the risk of further spread to the African region and globally as low. Based on the information currently available, WHO does not recommend any restrictions on travel to, or trade with, affected countries.
We are continuing to monitor the situation closely and will remain in regular communication with relevant public-health authorities as we prepare for the meeting in Libreville, Gabon.

We will reassess the situation regularly as we approach ATBC 2027. Should any measures be required to ensure safe and productive meeting, these will be communicated promptly.
At this stage, preparations for ATBC 2027 in Libreville are continuing as planned. We appreciate your confidence and will keep you informed of any developments that may affect travel or participation.
